2018 Vintage

Harvest Notes

A season to remember, 2018 is one of the finest in recent Napa history. Generous rains and a temperate spring climate gave way to an immaculate bloom in late May. Mild temperatures induced slow maturation of the grapevines, which benefited from long hang times during the cool summer nights. The deep and rich colors of a bountiful fruit set illuminated the Calistoga hillside heading into fall. Harvest broke before daybreak on September 21st and continued at a measured pace through the 29th.

Tasting Notes

Wine Produced: 474 cases

Alcohol: 14.8%

Varietal Composition: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2018 Heimark Cabernet Sauvignon opens with savory aromas of dried sage, thyme, bay laurel, and earthy forest humus, complemented by floral notes of lavender and fennel pollen. Intensely concentrated black fruits give this wine an irresistible succulence that adds to an interplay of sweet and savory layering.

The 2018 vintage has yielded wines that are at once incredibly concentrated and dense yet weightless and almost ethereal. The mouthfeel is generous yet firm with mineral notes of volcanic rock and fresh mineral lift. Flavors of dark, brooding fruits together with notes of black licorice, myrtle and sandalwood spice add intrigue and complexity to this wine.

This is a classically structured wine with abundant tannins and a vibrant, elegant finish that will age brilliantly over the next 25 years.
